Send a compact request with the details needed for comparison across belt, pulley, idler and tensioner lines.
Name the timing belt tensioner family, hydraulic or mechanical construction, pulley diameter, mounting interface and whether the inquiry covers a standalone tensioner or a full timing belt kit BOM. Provide OE reference only as an identification aid.
State count on a pieces or kits basis and list whether belts, idlers, covers or water pumps travel with the tensioner. Minimum order quantity is a supplier answer, not a figure invented here.
Include country, US state or ZIP, requested timing and, if already chosen, Incoterms. Gross package weight and packing unit affect freight comparison and should be requested with the quote.
Note optional budget (currency and per-unit or total-order), supplier preference (high-end, mid-range, budget, undecided) and remaining tensioner or kit questions. Preferences are buyer trade-offs, not verified factory grades.
Agree whether the inquiry covers a hydraulic tensioner assembly, a mechanical tensioner, an idler pulley only, or a complete timing belt kit that includes the tensioner. Ask for drawings that show mounting points, pulley width and hydraulic body references when applicable. Application chart entries are starting points; suppliers must confirm geometry for the quoted engine code.
When comparing kit versus individual timing belt tensioner lines, list every BOM item — belt, hydraulic or mechanical tensioner, idlers, covers and water pump — so a belt-only unit price is not weighed against a full-system quote. Vehicle fitment still requires model year, engine code and mounting position confirmation from the supplier declaration, not appearance matching alone.
